INTRODUCTION--> Another game like Blue Whale is getting viral and popular via WhatsApp named MOMO CHALLENGE.
ORIGIN--> According to the Computer Crime Investigation Unit in the Mexican state of Tabasco, the game started in a Facebook where members were 'challenged' to communicate with an unknown number.
WHAT IS MOMO CHALLENGE--> Actually, a number is getting viral on WhatsApp which is said to be MOMO CHALLENGE. It is said that whosoever talks to this unknown number is somehow convinced to commit suicide. Momo challenge is also like Blue Whale challenge.
HOW DOES THIS WORK? --> Users get a challenge to save and send a message to an unknown number. After sending the message user gets some violent and terrific images. Then the user is given tasks which he/she has to complete and if he/she does not do so the person is threatened.
HOW WAS IT REVEALED--> A 12-year girl of Argentina committed suicide as this game is blamed for that. Police forces in several countries have expressed concern about Momo, which is is similar to the Blue Whale 'challenge' that led to reports of 130 suicides in Russia.
HOW TO IDENTIFY--> The avatar for Momo is a haunting image of a woman with grotesque features and bulging eyes taken from the work of Japanese artist Midori Hayashi, who is not associated with the game.
HOW TO BE SAFE FROM THAT? --> As of now MOMO CHALLENGE has not reached India but will be soon present by social media. Especially, be beware that your children are not in its contact. Tell everyone and yourself that do not chat with an unknown number. If any significant change seen, visit a psychologist.
